One day at a time

Psalm 32:8
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will guide you with My eye.

We all have our dreams and we know that God is the One who has equipped us with all the necessary skill sets, talents and connections required for fulfilling them.

 But if we look at how we are to accomplish our dreams, we may be overwhelmed with the thought that we cannot do it at all. Instead of looking at the full picture, I believe that all that is required of us is may be to just obey God when HE shows us the “step” we need to take today and leave the rest in GOD'S hand. God does not usually reveal the whole of HIS plan to us, because HE knows that it would be too much for our limited mind to absorb and comprehend. Yes, GOD'S ways and GOD'S thoughts are too high that it may not even make sense to us. God always shows just the next step that we need to take - towards the accomplishment of our God given dreams. Quite often, that step may seem ridiculous for our human mind, which always tries to get the complete picture by rational thinking and reasoning. When God shows us a single step, all we may need to do is just obey God - by taking that single, God-directed-step first - and trusting God for all the rest of the steps we are yet to take by HIS direction. God gives HIS direction by the HOLY SPIRIT who lives in us.

He is more like a compass, which will simply show the “magnetic north” and by that, we slowly progress towards our destiny. A map, which has the complete picture of the destination and all the possible routes, may have more information than a compass, which has just one information - the magnetic north – which, is often the most critical information for a crew which is lost in the sea. Similarly, the HOLY Spirit points and directs us on how we should proceed from our current position, our current lost situation and that's all we may need to know! The HOLY SPIRIT shows us that single step by different ways – either through GOD'S Word when we meditate on it, through songs, through our conscience or through somebody else. We just need to keep our spiritual ears open to hear GOD'S direction - the step we need to take today. Although it may look like our dreams may take too long, and the big picture of our destiny may not be easy to accomplish, we just need to take that one step by the HOLY SPIRIT's direction and at the end of the day, we would be one step closer to our divine destiny!

         God led the Israelites in the wilderness through Moses. If taking the responsibility of leading a single family can be practically difficult, it is impossible to even imagine how Moses would've felt when HE had to lead and provide for the needs of a complete nation in the wilderness! Had HE started planning out how he should provide for food, shelter and clothing for a nation and that too in a wilderness, he would've fainted! But Moses chose a better, much easier and simpler way - just taking one day at a time, he asked for GOD'S direction for that day and trusted the JEHOVAH JIREH, the LORD the provider. Moses trusted God that HE would direct him in the future too and that all the God ordained steps leads to the divine destiny - Canaan!

         Likewise, wherever we are with respect to our dreams, we just need to get our next step from God and let go of all our reasoning, so that our trust in God grows and gradually we would progress towards our God given destiny with the help and direction of the HOLY Spirit! 

One day at a time sweet Jesus
That's all I'm asking from you.
Just give me the strength
To do everyday what I have to do.
Yesterday's gone sweet Jesus
And tomorrow may never be mine.
Lord help me today, show me the way
One day at a time.
